🚴‍♂️🏆 Churchil Joash Bangayan, the cycling pride of Sudipen, La Union, has made a name for himself in the Philippine cycling scene. In his first major road race, the 2023 Vuelta Dagupan Page, Churchil, who only turned at the age of 17 last April 2, 2023, competed in the Pro Category, and was the only representative of the ZDesigns Team. Despite the challenges he faced, he managed to surprise everyone with his performance, even beating some of the most seasoned professionals in the race to finish 6th-Place overall. 🙌 🚵‍♂️ The Vuelta Dagupan is known for its difficult terrain, and this year's route was no exception. The race covered 76 kilometers with a total elevation gain of 1540 meters, starting from Dagupan City and finishing in the uphill battle of Baguio City. The final climb was particularly grueling, with a 10-kilometer stretch of brutal slopes averaging 10% gradient. This did not stop Churchil from giving his all, and he managed to keep up with some of the best in the sport. 🏅 Competing against the likes of Excellent Noodles Cycling Team, Team Go For Gold PH, and Team VPharma Cycling, who are frequent competitors at the country's biggest cycling race, the Ronda Pilipinas, Churchil proved that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. He even beat out Mervin Corpuz, John Paul Laureta, Warren Bordeos, Joshua Bonifacio, Joseph Bora, and others, with only three minutes separating him from the eventual winner, Ryan Tugawin, and two minutes behind the reigning king of the mountain, Joshua Pascual of Team Excellent. Behind his success is Churchil's mentor and coach, Raymund, also known as Bike NgaRoad. Raymund's dedication in improving and building Churchil as a future cycling champion is truly commendable.
